30 Data Licensing
Not yet documented centrally. The platform ingests from three vendors — each has its own terms that govern what can be redistributed, republished, or used in a public-facing paper/dataset release:
- FMP (Financial Modeling Prep) — requires
FMP_API_KEY; commercial terms apply. Redistribution limits need confirming before any derived dataset from FMP-sourced fields is published alongside a paper. - FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data) — requires
FRED_API_KEY; FRED data is generally public domain / open (US government data), but confirm per-series terms before redistribution. - FINRA — no API key required; confirm redistribution terms for the short-interest dataset specifically.
Research-only sources named in the PhD proposal (SEC 13F filings, SEC 10-K text, French data library) are separately licensed — SEC filings are public record, but derived/processed extracts (e.g. parsed supply-chain links) may carry their own terms depending on the parsing service used.
Action needed: confirm and record actual license terms per source before any dataset built from them is published as part of a paper’s supplementary material.
